I get a lot of people asking me how to beat heroin addiction. I like to respond with a few different ideas for them. The first is that they have to decide that they are really through using heroin that they have been beaten this is necessary. I would have to say that a complete and utter surrender is needed to the fact that heroin has kicked their ass and then help is available.
When a person reaches this point I like to suggest heroin treatment. I urge them to look for a heroin rehab near them and to give them a call and set up a day when they can come to treatment. When you get there the process of a detox for heroin will begin this will be done medically by a staff of trained professionals. They will probably use drugs like suboxone to help with your heroin withdrawal. When you finish detoxing then I would suggest that you continue with your recovery in residential treatment. There you will gain the necessary information to help you learn how beat heroin addiction.
I have personally used this method and it works well but most people do not do the things that are needed to remain clean like attend 12 step meetings and stay away from using people. We have to find a new group of friends and one way to do this is by attending NA on a regular basis. This is working for me every day and it can work for anyone who takes the action.
