Holiday Accommodation in Scotland

February 28th, 2010

The experience of a holiday in Scotland is not to be missed. Your UK holiday will include a sense of history, romance, and age-old beauty. A holiday in Scotland is like a step back in time, with so much to offer, there will scarcely be enough time to enjoy all you have dreamt of visiting.

First, as you are planning your travel itinerary, you must choose where to stay. UK self-catering accommodations, or holiday cottages as they are also know as, are becoming very popular, and with good cause. Holiday cottages offer freedom and can save a great deal of money, especially to families. Not to be forgotten about though are also log cabin breaks, similar to holiday cottages but more often in remote places a log cabin holiday can be the perfect escape for a family that loves the outdoors.

Self catering accommodation refers to any holiday accommodations where the travelers have a kitchen so that they can prepare meals for themselves rather than always having to eat at a restaurant or come down to meals at a set schedule. The kitchens are usually fairly well equipped and offer a stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, etc. Generally speaking, they will have separate bedrooms, one or more full bathrooms, and perhaps a balcony, patio or even a pool deck. Towels and linens are provided, however, daily maid service and other hotel conveniences are usually not included. When maid service is available, it is usually arranged for longer stays, for example once a week to change the linens etc.

Differing from hotel pricing, with UK holiday rentals you will find a predetermined price for your entire holiday in Scotland, based on the season and of course the number of days you will be using the rental. There will be a maximum number of persons allowed in the holiday rental. Most bedrooms will sleep a maximum number of guests, plus possible additional beds. There is often a fold out sofa, or rollaway bed.

Perhaps you would rather be waited on in a beautiful private home while on your holiday in Scotland. Wonderful! Scotland offers some of the finest bed and breakfast guesthouses in all of the UK. Staying at with a family that has made superb hospitality their entire life can be the most memorable part of your entire holiday in Scotland.  You can expect to be treated as royal guests, receiving an extraordinary level of service and comfort that comes from people who truly care about making your stay at their B & B the best it can be. Because you will be staying with a local family, they will guide you to all the special places to visit, the best places to eat, and all the extra touches that will make your UK holiday incredible.

Jijona on the Costa Blanca

February 10th, 2010

There is a small town which is in the heart of the Costa Blanca known as Jijona. This small town is the home of one of Spain’s most famous confectionery products known as Turron. This is a confectionery which is made from honey, sugar, eggs, and almonds, although sometimes other nuts are used. Jijona is located about 20 km from the province’s capital city of Alicante. According to the statistical bureau of Spain, the population of the town in 2006 was 7596 people.

There are several different ways of getting to the town. If you’re coming from Alicante, you drive along the A-7. There are three main airports in the region that you can fly into. Once you are here in the town itself, you will find that it is a great base for exploring the surrounding mountains and countryside, and also for being able to visit the tourist resorts along the Mediterranean coast and retreating again once the evening sets in.

The town itself has a number of beautiful architectural features including the Hermitage of Santa Barbara. There is also a castle that is believed to have been built by the Moors during their occupation. The Moors were here for almost 5 centuries and they were eventually conquered in the 13th century by James I of Aragon. The town was also involved in the war of the two Pedro’s in the 14th century and the War of Spanish succession in the 18th century which was a European war with worldwide implications.

If you are coming here with your family and you have children, you should bring them down to see the Museum of Turron. This is on the outskirts of town and you will be given a guided tour here which will show you very detailed information about the process of manufacture and the history of the confectionery. This confectionery dates back over centuries and although it is traditionally eaten only at Christmas, you can purchase the sweet at almost any time of the year. The museum is open from mid-June until mid-December and includes a tour of the local factory where you can see the manufacturing process in operation.

Personalized Luggage Tag That Are Useful Too

November 22nd, 2009

If you are planning to have some luggage tag made, why not consider adding a few more details that could come in handy in an emergency. You could include emergency numbers and information like your blood type, important numbers to call in case of an accident or loss of luggage, and the like.

You should be careful though about putting in too much personal information because it could affect your security. Thus, instead of putting in your home phone, you could put the number of the office, trusted family member or friend.

If you will be traveling overseas, you could add an address where you or a family member can be reached. Limit the information though as much as possible. After all, this is data that is accessible to a lot of people, some of whom you will never even see like the cargo handlers, and bag checkers.

We all know how rigid and strict airport security has become lately, and this is something we just have to get used to. It’s probably not going to change back to the old ways because it’s just too risky for everyone. This is why TSA or Transportation Security Administration luggage straps are becoming so handy to use.

Simply put, TSA luggage straps make it easier for check-in and inspection of luggage. It minimizes lock breakage, is heavy duty, and easy to use. Most of all, it’s acceptable to airport, port, train security personnel.

The only disadvantage at the moment, if you want to consider it as a disadvantage, is its price. TSA luggage straps are more expensive than regular luggage straps, but when you compare the advantages, it’s worth the price.

Cost of Backpacking in Peru

The cost of backpacking in Peru is really up to the individual and how they feel about firstly accomodation and then the type of travel the wish to do while in Peru. If there’s several different excursions you wish to go on then obviously you’ll have to factor this in to your overall backpacking budget. If you plan to travel in a little more style rather than the cheapest bus company then look to add a few dollars to that. Then of course there’s the type of hostel or hotel you stay in. If you’re working to a strict budget then go for the hostel option. It’s also a great way of meeting other backpackers and potentially finding out about other places to visit while backpacking in South America. Finally, don’t forget about presents you have to bring home to your loved ones. There’s lots of fantastic gifts you can take home from Peru to give your family and friends a true taste of what your trip was like.

How to Travel the World

Many Americans have no idea how to travel the world. They think it’s a task that takes a lifetime of savings, or they think it’s a once in a lifetime event. Some think it can only be done during a two week vacation, and others think they must buy a cushy package tour. All of these assumptions are wrong. Using easy tricks from this website, a person can travel far and wide on hardly any money. They can do this for long, long periods of time. They can do it themselves, without the constraints and the extra costs of package tours. The main key is this: go to developing countries. In the Third World, as it is often called, costs are up to a tenth of what you would pay at home, meaning you can save vast amounts of money by choosing to travel instead of staying at home. One thousand dollars can easily let you live like a king for a month and a half!

Famagusta Cyprus

Although Famagusta is situated on the east coast of Cyprus it is completely different from the hectic party town of Ayia Napa which is just a little further down the coast. And as tourism is the main focus of Farmagusta it is also less built up and industrial then some of the more major cities of Larnaca and Limmasol. So this is an altogether a more relaxing destination for a Cyprus holiday and perfect for all the family if all you want to do is relax on one of the many beautiful beaches and enjoy the local attractions.

There are plenty of great water sports to enjoy as well as the gentle pleasures of wandering around the pretty harbour of Potamos or hiding away in the secret coves of Cape Greco where you can take in the amazing views from the cliffs. The atmopshere here is certainly more old world and traditional compared to the rest of Cyprus.

Spend less money on your Disneyland vacation

October 26th, 2009

If you want to spend less money on your Disneyland vacation, the best tip I can offer is that you avoid staying at one of the Disney resort hotels. They are much more expensive than nearby hotels and motels and there are plenty of options for Disneyland area hotels that are still within walking distance of the park.

The environment around Disneyland is very different from what you’ll find at WDW in Florida. You don’t have to drive for miles to find a cheaper hotel. There are plenty located in Anaheim and the best spot is probably Harbor Boulevard. At most of these hotels, they will have a shuttle bus that drops you off at the park, but some of them are actually no more than a half mile walk to the gate, so don’t be afraid to just make the trip yourself instead of waiting for the next shuttle.
