If you travel extensively with a trailer, you know the hassle of getting lights hooked up that work. Many stores also sell disposable changing mats.  These are a must have for every parent.  When you find them, buy two or three packages to keep in each car that you have and in every diaper bag.  Take them out of the pack and separate them into a few zip loc bags so that you can have them in case of an emergency.

Cricut supplies rolls of vinyl in a variety of colors that you can purchase from the same retailer that you bought your machine at. The vinyl is supple and soft and comes with a paper backing on it to cover the sticky side. It is easy to insert onto the cutting mat and away you go.

Cutting Cricut stickers is easy to do. Use your Cricut machine to cut designs and lettering as you would with paper. You may have to adjust the pressure of the blade, so give a try with a small design first so you don’t waste any of your vinyl. Once you cut the vinyl, gently take the cutting mat out of the machine and peel off the sticker. You can also use scissors to cut out your stickers individually, retaining the paper backing for future use.

Once you have finished with your Easter eggs decorating, have you planned on what you might do next? How about using them more creatively than just throwing them away?

As an artist working with small children I often find that they are mixing the colours up in the pots. It’s a real pain to have to keep cleaning out and throwing away various shades of grey paint. Instead, how about taking half eggs and putting them in egg boxes, and then filling them with just as much paint as you need.

For an adult idea, you could separate the egg and put the two halves so that their ends are touching, then glue them together. Hot glue is the only way that this will be successful. You can then use it as a small mixing pot, or for water perhaps.

If you are a beader, or card-craft maker, why not put your findings or smaller pieces into the eggs. Put the same kind of thing in each one, or colour coordinate. Again, you could attach just one of whatever you put on the inside to the outside of the egg with a dab from a glue gun. That will mean you can find what you need without having to open every egg.

If you are able to carefully cut a slot in the top of an egg you could put ribbon or string into the egg for a useful dispenser.

I am always hunting for screws, small batteries, small screwdrivers and the like. Ever tried to find those screws for you glasses when you need them most? Put them in an egg!

And my most favourite idea is to put guitar picks in them. As a guitarist I am always losing them, and this has saved me many a lost gig!
