Baby Clothes Going Green
The new trend in baby clothes is to go green. Not the color green, necessarily. Rather, organic baby clothes are appealing to those who want both a quality product and to reduce their carbon footprint. First, organic baby clothes are made with fibers that do not contain harmful pesticides, fertilizers, or herbicides. Instead, these clothes are often made from alternative fibers such as bamboo and hemp which are eco-friendly. Next, going green does not mean boring. Manufacturers have created patterns and colors that are vibrant and interesting. In addition, organic fibers are often better for babies than synthetics. They absorb moisture better and because they have fewer additives, are better for sensitive skin. Lastly, organic materials hold up better than synthetic ones; thus, organic baby clothes last longer.
But be careful. Just because something is labeled 100% cotton does not mean that it is organic. Be sure to check on the label for certified organic.
