Dilaudid addiction help
Today I am going to let everyone know a little about the drug dilaudid and what it was actually intended for other than that heroin addicts seem to love them.
First of all the actual drug name for dilaudid is called hydromorphone. It was invented in Germany and was put on the market for sale in 1926 under the name dilaudid by Knoll pharmaceuticals. In the world today it is marketed under the trade names of Pallacone, Palladone SR and countless others.
Hydromorphone aka dilaudid is used today in the medical field as an alternative to morphine. It also used as a cough suppressant for dry and painful coughing; for instance when one gets the flu or other bronchial irritations it seems to help. This happened after another drug was removed from the market which was called Heroin.
Dilaudid is becoming widely excepted in many countries today because of the change in attitude about how to control pain. In the United States hydromorphone is controlled by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
One thing is certain and that is that they are highly addictive. Do not take this lightly many people start taking dilaudid for one type of pain or another and then become hooked and this turns into a full blown hydromorphone addiction .
This may happen in a variety of ways; for instance the patient may take more of the drug than was prescribed to kill the pain. This is very dangerous and if you do this you are treading on thin ice so to speak.
What will happen is over time you will build up a tolerance to the drug which will lead you to take more and more to get the desired effect. This is when dilaudid addiction can occur.
I have know a lot of heroin users who quit using heroin and started using dilaudid and ended up with a dilaudid addiction.
If any of this is happening to you I would suggest that you seek help. One thing you can do is let your doctor know what is going on and perhaps they can change your medication. Another thing if you believe you have a problem you could try going to some NA meetings or counseling. This is about the best way to stop using dilaudid.
